Popular Orchids

The Brassia family is commonly known as "Spider Orchids" - reflecting the elongated sepals and petals that spread out like a spider's legs from the central core. The family consists of about 50 species that grow naturally in Florida, some of the Caribbean islands as well as Peru and Brazil.
The Brassia produces long flower spikes in the early summer and multiple blossoms parade evenly down the spike. Blooms are sometimes fragrant and may last up to six weeks. Most Brassia flowers range from white to pale green and gold and are freckled or striped with splashes of brown, purple or maroon.
