Irene stopped by Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida to review the orchids available at the Sarasota Orchid Society’s annual auction held in early December. The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a leading not-for-profit institution fostering the understanding and appreciation of tropical plants -- especially epiphytes. It is perhaps best known for its collection of more than 6,000 living orchids.
January marked Irene’s visit to the Ft. Lauderdale (Florida) Orchid Show where she renewed her relationship with Axel Cahiz of Amazonia Orchids. Axel is a Cattleya specialist, but it was his very unique “Eria Javanica” that won Reserve Grand Champ ion honors at the World Orchid Congress held in Miami in 2008.
