Popular Orchids

The Oncidium family is consists of about 700 species and is commonly called the "Butterfly Orchid". They are native to the tropical regions of Florida, the West Indies, Mexico and Central and South America to Brazil.
The flowers may bloom all year long. The stems are typically upright, but may bend with the weight of the flowers. Some may have only one or two blossoms, while others may have hundreds. Between varieties, the flowers may vary widely in shape, size and color. One of the most popular Oncidiums has flowers that mimic a "Dancing Lady" - her tiny body enveloped in a brownish bodice linked to a magnificent sweeping yellow ball gown.
